Head of fibula & lateral tibial condyle

Action/Relevance

Flexes kneeExternally rotates hip (long head) Extends hip (long head)

Innervation

Long Head: Tibial nerve (L5, S1, 2) Short Head: Common Peroneal nerve (L5, S1)

Notes

Long head origin shared with semitendinosus

The tendon splits into 3 parts

main part goes around the lateral collateral lig

middle part fuses with the lateral collateral

deep fuses with the lateral condyle of the tibia
