INVITATION TO TEST ACT MAYA

If you are you are an expert in character work in Maya we invite you to take part in the alpha testing.

The port of ACT from 3ds max to Maya has been much harder than we anticipated. We now have a very early alpha in which the core technology is working although there is almost no UI and the special sub object editing modes are not present yet. Progress should be rapid now.

If you are very technical and have time you are welcome to jump in now and start playing with the alpha now. If at all unsure, please wait a few more weeks until a more solid and feature rich version is available. However it is at this early stage that we want feedback of how people want ACT to work in large Maya pipelines.

Muscles
At present we have cgMuscles with their default (and most useful) deformation engine. You have all the standard Maya editing modes but none of our special sub object editing modes.
The cgMuscles are a complete new base class of object in Maya -- so even although it's very raw at the present it is a major addition to Maya.

Sub-surface deformation.
Our cgMeshDeformer technology is working, but there is no UI at all... you have to use simple one line MEL script to add deformation nodes.

ACT Documentation
We will make the full ACT documentation available to you all. This was written for the 3ds max version but it will give you an idea of the principals behind ACT and the full set of features that are coming in the Maya version.
you are all also welcome to download the 3ds max demo version if you want to. We will extend the authorization for this for anyone that want it during the ACT Maya beta. It is available at http://www.cgcharacter.com/documents/ACT16.zip

cgSkin Beta.
Our full skin simulation technology is currently in beta for the 3ds max platform. We intend to integrate this technology into the first release of ACT for Maya. This includes special new deformation engines for cgTubes to drive skin with. IF any of you are interested that beta is running at http://forum.cgcharacter.com/board/ just post an email to the General Discussion part of the board to be added the beta group
